THE PROCESS

We follow a similar process for each project. Our initial proposal defines our scope of work for our client with exactly what they need to satisfy their project and/or jurisdictional requirements. At the beginning, we require as much project information as possible. A more complete understanding of the project results in a more complete report. As the project advances and the design details become more formalized, we are often required to revise our reports, and/or perform additional work. When this work exceeds the scope of work in the original proposal, a Work Authorization delineating the additional scope of work and fees is prepared and provided to the client for signature.

the steps involved

01

Client

Our clients are typically the property owner or their authorized representative. To prepare a proposal and to address our reports, we require the name, mailing address, phone number, and email address of our client.

02

Subject Site

All of our projects entail the evaluation or development of a subject site. To prepare a proposal and to address our reports, we require the site address or parcel number.

03

Project Plans

To prepare a proposal for the subject site, we need an understanding of the planned development. Any project plans or site sketches are useful. If no plans are available, a brief description of the planned development will suffice.

04

Proposal

We begin all of our projects by preparing a proposal delineating our scope of work and expected fees. Once the proposal is signed by our client and returned to us, we can begin work immediately.

05

Reporting

Our work begins with the production of a written report in accordance with the proposal. We strive to make the report as complete as possible. Detailed project information is necessary in order to insure we address all portions of the planned development. Often, after the production of our report, the project plans become more formalized, and the local jurisdiction will require an additional or updated report. Typically, this requires a Work Authorization addressing the additional work. Often during this part of the process, several revisions are required to satisfy the jurisdiction.

06

Billing

We bill our project on a Time and Expense basis in accordance with the proposal. The time is commensurate with the number of hours spent working on the project. Expenses are limited to a mileage fee. Report edits that do not entail additional work beyond the original scope of work will not be charged beyond the proposal limit. When additional or updated reports beyond the original proposal are required, a detailed breakdown of the charges for the additional work will be sent for authorization in the form of a Work Authorization. Work Authorizations will entail additional fees.
